Although Baume & Mercier already had transmitted pr releases to announce this new collection, I did not am getting at much concerning this before seeing it from the flesh.The Baume & Mercier Clifton collection grabs to their replica watches with the 1950s. Elegant shaped cases, long lugs with perfectly beveled edges, a domed sapphire crystal and applied numerals and hour markers.The basis for that Clifton is obvious. 1950s timepieces using their company own collection from that period. Within my interview (that will be published at a later date) with Baume & Mercier's Alexandre Peraldi (design director), I've discovered that additionally they used input off their watch makers and very long time retailers to generate the Clifton collection. Although it is not the standard 34 or 35mm vintage sized watch case but a 'whopping' 42mm. I always wonder if the replica watches inside 1950s on the parents and grandparents were also small on their wrists (and now we just became a bit bigger) or if that it was just 'normal' to have a tiny watch, even if you  had large wrists. Somehow, small vintage replica watches look very well around the original owners/buyers, however, not on me. With a power reserve of 90 hours, you don't have to see a strategy of winding it daily which appears to be a hurdle for a lot of who wants to buy a mechanical watch.So, not just a single pitfall with this watch? Well. To begin with, watches the watch has a certain sale price. This type of Clifton only comes in a 18 carat red gold case. The other Clifton models are designed away from steel and still have a lovely price (starting at 2500 Swiss Francs). For many people it is excessively for this watch, except for 12.000 Swiss Francs (excluding VAT),  there are numerous of interesting alternatives people can decide on.Another point is its movement. Personally I wouldn't be bothered because of, but the La Joux-Perret movement manufacturing company has become acquired by Citizen. However that Citizen doesn't sound very Swiss, the upside is La Joux-Perret has enough capital strength to become sustainable for several years.Finally, Baume & Mercier did an admirable job with all the new Clifton collection. Personally, I have discovered this 18 carat red gold version the best Clifton.
